CEO Profile Pic.jpg

Stephane Malca

Founder & CEO

How would you best describe yourself?
Knowledgeable about and Sensitive to Music.

How was the idea of MBC Conceived?

After many years of travelling abroad and staying in luxury hotels around the world, I observed that although, the hotels were often beautifully designed with style & elegance with great service, what these establishments lacked was a coherent music policy.

I observed that the majority of hotels had not given much thought to this part of their business. Hence, instead of enhancing, the background music was harming the brand’s identity. With around 30 years of professional experience in the music industry, I believed I could help these brands find their signature soundtracks and elevate their brand identity. This is when MBC was formed.

What is your musical background?
I was trained in classical piano and was also part of a funk band. I had my own record label for a number of years where I diversified into electronic music. After this, I moved on to work as the artistic director of the renowned Momo's Club in London and produced a number of world music albums, adding a unique electro twist. This was seen to be very innovative at the time.

Do you play any instruments or sing?
I play the piano

Do you have a favourite music genre?

If I had to choose one, it would be Jazz because I listen to it the most but I do not think I have a favourite one.

What is the one song that relaxes you/ gives you energy?
741 hertz music as I believe it helps remove various toxins from the environment and has a calming effect

How would you best describe yourself?
Fun, outgoing, spontaneous, caring, kind and peaceful.

What does your role entail?

I lead all business development efforts within the organisation, including the development and implementation of business development strategies and activities.

I ensure the company's business growth through expanding current businesses and exploring new markets and opportunities. I also lead business development activities through cross-function collaborations.

How long have you been with MBC and what originally attracted you to the company?
I have been at MBC since 2010. I was originally attracted to MBC because it is a small independent company with great potential. I knew it would be relaxed and fun and I would be able to really use my creativity to come up with interesting strategies! Plus I love music and staying in luxury hotels

How long have you worked in the music/hospitality or wellness industry?

I have worked in the wellness industry since 2002 being a fully qualified therapist. One of my first jobs after graduating was working as a PR for a small independent record label in the 90s.

What's your favourite thing about working for MBC?

There are many things I really enjoy working at MBC but the thing I enjoy most is travelling the world and meeting people. This job has allowed me to visit some spectacular hotels and see some breathtaking vistas!

It has also allowed me to combine my love of music with my decades of holistic experience. I  head up our specialist wellness team and am very proud to say we are the only music agency in the world to create truly holistic spa playlists that are infused with healing hertz frequencies.

Do you have a favourite music genre?

I love healing hertz music and lots of artists in the Kundalini Yoga movement

What is the one song that relaxes you/ gives you energy?
I love indigenous music, especially the classical Indian flute. To give me the energy I listen to deep house music from the 90s.

Mona Malca

Visual Design Consultant

How would you best describe yourself?

I would describe myself as a very curious and lively person; I am very social and enjoy travelling very much. I think I am creative and spontaneous.

What does your role entail?

I began by handling the bookkeeping and accounting for the company. Afterwards, I assisted in the creation and development of  MBC’s brand identity with Stephane; our goals and vision, our philosophy and how we want to express it. Now I mainly create content for our Instagram page and handle community management. I also work with the team in further developing our brand identity on digital media.

How long have you been with MBC and what originally attracted you to the company?

I started working with MBC in 2017. First of all, because it’s my father’s company and I thought it would be interesting to get involved, I think it’s great to participate in the family business! And also because both music and luxury hospitality are sectors I’m very fond of.

How long have you worked in the music/hospitality industry?

I started as a waitress in 2013 before studying and graduating at Vatel International Hospitality Management School, after which I worked in various 5-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants.

What's your favourite thing about working for MBC?

I love the fact that every member of the team is genuinely passionate about music and about delivering a unique service. We love what we do and want to create the best possible experience for our clients and continuously develop the highest possible quality service

What instruments do you play?

I played the piano for many years, then, unfortunately, I stopped for a while but I started taking lessons again a couple of months ago. I love listening to music but my singing is better for my own ears only!

Do you have a favourite music genre?
I don’t actually. I have a very eclectic taste: I love classical music, such as Chopin or Bill Evans, old-school funk, Bossa Nova, instrumental Latin music, but also minimal house and a bit of pop music. I also love opera: Maria Callas mostly.

What did you want to be while growing up?

I’ve always dreamed of being a writer. Now I’m writing my first novel.
